Be Smart!
The Anchor Bay Community Foundation has implemented many programs under the heading Be Smart! Initially funded by State of Michigan Tobacco Settlement monies awarded annually to community foundations, the programs included Be Smart!, "Don't Start Smoking." Materials were provided to local agencies and for community events outlining ways to educate our children about drug, tobacco and alcohol prevention. Though state funding of this program has ceased, the Anchor Bay Community Foundation continues to provide programs under the Be Smart auspice. The Justin Mello KidPrint Program helps us Be Smart about keeping our children safe by providing information to local police agencies and acquainting children with the police officers and cadets that serve our community. The ABC Foundation joined dozens of other organizations at the Summer Safety Awareness program held at Metropolitan Beach presented by the Prevention Coalition of Southeast Michigan. Reflective sneaker stickers were provided to more than 500 youngsters with a card reading:
